The 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament was held on Friday August 27, at the Penn Oaks Country Club in West Chester Pa. The Wade Wilson Golf Tournament is the premier fundraising event given by the Cheyney University C Club. The C Club is a non profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting Cheyney University’s athletic department, band and cheerleaders. This year the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament was even more successful than last year’s. In 2009 the C Club gave the university $21,000 for scholarships. This year the golf tournament was larger, offered more activities for non golfers and as a result raised $40,000. The C Club donated $30,000 for scholarships for the athletic department and $5,000 to the Cheyney Band and $1,500 to the cheerleaders.
The 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament’s Honorary Co-Chairs were Robert Bogle the CEO of the Philadelphia Tribune and Jim Ellis educator, swim coach, mentor and motivational speaker who was the subject of the Lion’s Gate motion picture Pride. Tournament Coordinator Joe DeVane and chairman Larry Skinner set an ambitious goal for the 2010 tournament. The C Club supporters rallied to make it happen. The tournament’s success required a shared vision, hard work and cooperation from numerous people, businesses, sponsors and alums; too many to mention or list here. . Nevertheless the C Club extends heart felt thanks to the Cheyney University staff, our sponsors, supporters and participants for making the 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament so successful. On behalf of the PR committee I extend special thanks
to Bob Bogle of the Philadelphia Tribune, E. Steven Collins of Radio One, Thera Martin Connelly of WURD 900 AM, Dawn Roberts of KD Communications and Scoop USA for their unwavering support.
