The Cheyney University “C” Club’s 2009 homecoming festivities were a
hugesuccess. The C Club signed up nine new members to join our efforts to raise
money forthe Cheyney University Athletic department. The C Club sponsored two
fund raisingparties which attracted a large contingent of young alums who thoroughly
enjoyed themselves.Many individuals who participated in this year’s Homecoming
gave feedback thatwas very positive. With the money raised through membership
dues, donations, and specialevents, the C Club has surpassed $50,000.00 towards
its’ goal to raise $100,000 duringthe 2009-10 calendar year. The enthusiasm within
the C Club is infectious, the clubsurpassed 100 members with the 2009 homecoming
weekend’s new members.
The highlight of the weekend was a $ 2,000.00 down payment on the Club's firstlife
membership since a life membership was changed from $1,000 to $5,000.00.
Thiscontribution came from Athletic Hall of Fame member Thomas Lane. Mr. Lane
is a 1950graduate of Cheyney. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in
1991. Mr. Laneattended this year's Hall of Fame ceremony where he saw first hand
the progress the "C"Club is making. The "C" Club is hopeful more Hall of Fame
members and former athleteswill become involved and join the C Club. Anyone
