The “C” Club is preparing to tee off in an effort to raise $100,000 in scholarship funds for the Cheyney University athletic department. On Monday, Aug. 26, Senator Vincent J. Hughes will serve as honorary chairperson for the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament at the Penn Oaks Country Club near West Chester. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the tournament’s shotgun start will take place at 8 a.m.
An annual event, the golf tournament is the “C” Club’s fundraiser that has raised more than $150,000 in scholarship funds over the past three years. The tournament will provide a substantial amount of support to Cheyney’s athletic department, 12 varsity sports teams, cheerleading squad and university band.
Featuring a buffet lunch, golf clinic at Penn Oaks Country Club, private tour of QVC Studio Park, silent auction and wine/cupcake tasting at Penns Woods Winery, the event’s itinerary boasts options for both the serious golfer and the non-golfer interested in making a donation. Individual golfers can join The “C” Club on the greens for $160, and a foursome can enjoy a discounted rate of $600. Non-golfers are welcome to participate in the QVC tour and wine tasting activities for $75, or get a feel for the game by purchasing a ticket to the golf clinic for $125.
Individuals interested in participating in the golf tournament should call (610) 743-8311 or visit The “C” Club website at cheyneycclub.com for information regarding registration, advertising, sponsorships and to learn how to make a charitable donation to this nonprofit organization.
