MyPRGenie (August 2, 2013) — The “C” Club is getting ready to tee off in an effort to raise $100,000 in scholarship funds for the athletic department of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
On Monday, August 26, 2013, Senator Vincent J. Hughes will serve as Honorary Chairperson for the 2013 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament at the Penn Oaks Country Club near West Chester, PA. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the tournament’s shotgun start will take place at 8 a.m.
An annual event, the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament is The “C” Club’s most extravagant fundraiser and has helped raise more than $150,000 in scholarship funds over the past three years.
“This is our most important fundraiser of the year,” proclaims Larry Skinner, Class of 1976, “C” Club Vice President, and Chairman of the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament. “CU’s athletic budget has been cut substantially this year. We have a huge commitment to Cheyney athletes and plan to donate 100 percent of the money we raise-after expenses-to help with recruitment and scholarships that will keep kids in school this fall.”
With Governor Tom Corbett’s recent budget cuts to education, and the guarantee that tuition at Pennsylvania public universities and colleges will experience an increase of 3 percent this year, the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament will provide a substantial amount of support to Cheyney’s athletic department, 12 varsity sports teams, cheerleading squad, and University band.
According to Sen. Hughes, “The State has cut nearly $1 billion from public schools in the past two years and millions more from higher education. That’s why private scholarships like The “C” Club’s are critical to fill the gap.”
“I’m proud to support the Wade Wilson Golf Tournament,” says Sen. Hughes. “It’s truly an honor to help raise funds for such an important institution that provides critical support for Cheyney University’s athletic programs. I urge everyone who cares about providing young people with a quality college experience to donate to The “C” Club today.”
Featuring a buffet lunch, a golf clinic at Penn Oaks Country Club, a private tour of QVC Studio Park, a silent auction, and a wine/cupcake tasting at Penns Woods Winery, this event itinerary boasts options for both the serious golfer and the non-golfer who is interested in making a donation to this organization.
Individual golfers can join The “C” Club on the greens for $160, and foursomes can enjoy a discounted rate of $600. Non-golfers are welcome to participate in the QVC tour and wine tasting activities for $75, or get a feel for the game by purchasing a ticket to the golf clinic for $125.
Companies interested in sponsorship opportunities can take advantage of The “C” Club’s various packages which range from the $100 Golf Cart package to the fearsome $10,000 Wolf package that offers eight golfer registrations, a plaque, two season passes to all Cheyney Home Athletic events, and ample advertising visibility.
Local and national companies have already pledged donations to The “C” Club’s $100,000 goal. This year’s sponsors include Lexus of Cherry Hill, Pennoni Associates, Inc., Allstate Insurance, and Sazerac Company, Inc.
